Recent regulation updates by the Department of Public Health and the Office of the Attorney General outline how hospitals can most strategically invest in communities to address community needs. Participants will learn about these current frameworks and opportunities for new partnerships and strategic investments in their communities.

The workshop will discuss:

  • the attorney general's revised Hospital Community Benefits Guidelines for nonprofit hospitals and the updated Determination of Need/Community Health Initiative regulations and guidance and the opportunities available to build upon these frameworks;
  • examples of how hospitals are changing their behavior to better reflect community needs and case-studies that detail current Community Development Corporations (CDC)-hospital partnerships; and
  • ways to find out information about the hospital in your community and tools to engage with hospital staff.
