Reducing Land-Use and Zoning Restrictions

Shortages in housing stock and their associated social and economic consequences have been worsening for decades. The Biden-Harris administration has already taken steps to alleviate these issues and, through the Build Back Better agenda, has proposed critical investments that will produce or preserve millions of affordable housing units. 

But many of the regulations that artificially limit housing supply exist at the state and local levels. At this event, the White House will feature researchers, advocates, and state and local elected officials to highlight the causes and consequences of restrictive land-use policies, as well as the potential impacts of state and local reforms.
